Jake Chandler Accident: Navy SEAL and Army Ranger Dies in Parachuting Tragedy
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Jake Chandler, a highly motivated and courageous young soldier who lost his life in a parachuting accident on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Jake’s tragic death has deeply affected the U.S. military community, family, and friends who knew him as a bright light and true warrior spirit.
A Rising Star in U.S. Special Operations
Jake Chandler had recently graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) as part of Class 05-25, officially earning the distinguished title of U.S. Army Ranger, serving in the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. His commitment to excellence and his relentless drive made him a standout among his peers and a source of pride for his family and instructors.
Jake’s father, Jared Chandler, a former Green Beret with the United States Army Special Forces, shared heartfelt words about his son’s life and faith.
“Jake was a meteor, and I want to thank you for creating an organization that someone like him could show up to and see the path forward. Jake found faith as a lifeguard and he wrapped himself in God’s armor going into the Rangers. We traded Psalms and TTPs. He was gregarious and charming, but a humble friend to anyone he could help. RLTW.”
From SOCOM Athlete to U.S. Army Ranger
Jake first joined the SOCOM Athlete program at just 16 years old, where he began preparing for a career in U.S. Special Operations. Over the next four years, he demonstrated extraordinary determination and leadership.
He attended his first SOCOM Athlete Hell Day event in San Clemente, California, on August 7, 2021, shortly after his 16th birthday. He returned for additional events in November 2022 and April 2024, showing continuous growth and unshakable focus on his dream of becoming an elite operator.
In 2024, Jake enlisted in the U.S. Army with an Option 40 contract, paving the way to Ranger training. Witnessing his transformation from a motivated teenager to a professional Army Ranger was described by mentors as a “privilege and blessing.”
A Life That Inspired Others
Jake Chandler was known for his larger-than-life personality and infectious energy that inspired everyone around him. His dedication to physical and spiritual strength, paired with his natural leadership, set him apart as someone destined for greatness.
Those who trained alongside Jake describe him as a person who embodied the “Sua Sponte” spirit — the Ranger Creed’s call to act “of one’s own accord.” He lived every day with purpose, discipline, and humility.
Honoring His Memory
The 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment is currently planning a memorial service to honor Jake’s life and service. His family is also preparing a celebration of life in his hometown in Southern California, where friends, loved ones, and fellow service members will gather to pay tribute to his remarkable journey.
As the military community mourns his loss, friends and mentors have urged others to keep Jake’s family in their prayers and to carry forward his legacy by striving to be the best version of themselves every day — just as Jake did.

The loss of Army Ranger Jake Chandler is a profound tragedy for the U.S. military community, his family, and all who had the privilege to know him. His passion, courage, and unwavering faith continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
